Winning Exchange|Maine power outage map: Spring snowstorm leaves over 200,000 homes, businesses without power

A slow-moving nor'easter brought snow,Winning Exchange strong winds and power outages to Maine on Wednesday, with more harsh weather expected to arrive Thursday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, a "major spring snowstorm" will continue to impact the region today, with snowfall rates of 1-2 inches per hour possible through the morning commute.

The NWS says the heaviest snow will diminish by midday, although lighter precipitation will likely continue into this evening. Snow showers are expected to linger through Saturday, according to the forecast.

The Portland Press Herald reports that state offices and many municipal offices will be closed Thursday, in addition to state and federal courts also being closed. Some school districts have also canceled classes.

According to AccuWeather, effects from the storm, ranging from cold air and gusty winds, will linger for days in much of the eastern part of the United States.

According to a USA TODAY power outage tracker, over 225,000 power outages have been reported across Maine as of 8:26 a.m. ET Thursday.

There are over 62,000 reported outages in York County, over 64,000 reported outages in Cumberland County and over 33,000 reported outages in Androscoggin County, according to the tracker.
